Is this bar really haunted by ghosts? We investigate their creepy ghost stories of paranormal activity and catch some interesting activity on video! This restaurant in Spicewood, Texas was an 1800’s post office and school. Staff reports pans and pots moving, shadow people, scary disembodied voices, and civil war sounds. Could this bar really be haunted by ghosts?
Haunted Moon River
Staff report different types of paranormal activity. A bartender heard military drumming from the cemetery next door (the cemetery is the final resting place of several confederate soldiers). One worker heard the disembodied voice of a female ghost in the kitchen. In addition, staff has come to work in the morning to find that pots moved from shelves on to the floor. Finally, people have seen shadow figures and full-body apparitions in the woods that surround the Moon River. They even say the ghosts wear bandanas like old west outlaws.
This was a special paranormal investigation for two reasons. First, this place was recommended to me by Autumn Thornburg, a former employee of the Moon River Bar and Grill and a Dead Explorer fan from Facebook. Second, I invited my friend Hilah from the web series “Hilah Cooking” as my special consultant on all things in the kitchen.
I had an interesting experience while setting up our ghost hunting gear. I saw a bright light flash in front of me in the parking lot of the restaurant. It very much looked like the flash of a camera, except I was by myself and nobody took a picture. Unfortunately, I was not able to record this experience because it happened so quickly. Since then I’ve had more encounters with ghost lights which has prompted me to research the connection between lights and paranormal activity.
EVP Caught on Camera
Keep an ear out for the EVP caught towards the end of this video. Originally I wondered if it was Hilah and almost dismissed it. Analysis of the clip in the audio editor showed there was no sound wave associated with the EVP and it appears to exist in the white noise of the recording. In addition, the EVP coincides with the reports of a disembodied female spirit voice in that exact area.
Watch the 3 Part Series
This is part one of the three part “Haunted Moon River” video series.
- Watch Part Two: “Scary Ghost Caught at Haunted Bar?”
- Watch Part Three: “Isolated Paranormal Investigations at Haunted Bar”
Unfortunately the owners of the Moon River Bar and Grill closed the restaurant a few months after I investigated. I had hopes that other paranormal investigation groups would visit this haunted restaurant so I could compare experiences. However, I was able to take Time Warner Cable News Austin to the Moon River before it closed to demonstrate real life ghost hunting.
